I Want To Love You Till Your Dying Day Volume 2
When dark fantasy momentarily becomes a fluffy slice of life story.
The moment I finished reading volume 1 of I Want To Love You Till Your Dying Day my brain went into overdrive trying to think of this post-apocalyptic world where children are being used as disposable weapons in this war. I was already bracing myself to become a detective in volume 2 trying to find out more about the corrupt school faculty, but was I expecting too much?
Genre: Dark fantasy yuri
Age Rating: Older teens 16+
Publisher: Kodansha
Status: Ongoing, two volumes out in English so far
Synopsis: Please check out my initial post for more information about this series.
Now that Sheena has been forced to be Mimi’s roommate, the two girls start becoming closer. In fact, Sheena becomes Mimi’s first friend she’s ever had! The two girls begin to do normal teenage girl things such as bake cookies, brush each other’s hair, take baths, and relax together. As these two girls grow closer, Mimi reveals her biggest secret to Sheena which really worries the rest of the school staff.
Favorite Things:
Mimi: We finally learned what she really is and also what caused it! I won’t spoil it but I’m glad that we have learned what she is, although I still have a few questions about it.
Sheena and Mimi: It was very sweet seeing how close these two girls have gotten to one another, although I know this is going to hurt me in the future. It’s bittersweet enjoying their wholesome friendship.
Rating: ★★/ 5
This was a pretty slow volume despite getting the big reveal so early in this volume. The rest of the volume was really slice of life and fluffy which was cute, but I kept waiting for something to happen. I felt like this second volume is building up for something dramatic or tragic to happen in volume 3, at least those are my hopes. I just want a bit more meat! I want to be shocked and end up looking like the surprised Pikachu meme. We’ll see if volume 3 lives up to my expectations!
