Fall in Love, You False Angels Volume 2
Let's check in with our two fake angels now that they both know each other's secret.
A few months ago I reviewed the first volume of the shoujo series Fall in Love, You False Angels. In my initial post, I gave volume one of the series four out of five stars which hopefully was able to help people figure out whether this series was worth picking up. I don’t want to stop with just reviewing the first volume of the series because as I’ve learned throughout my manga collecting journey, sometimes it takes one volume for the series to fall flat or get ruined.
Genre: Romantic Comedy, Slice of life
Age Rating: Teens 13+
Publisher: Kodansha
Status: Ongoing, two volumes out in English so far
Synopsis: For a synopsis of volume 1, please read my first review.
Now that our two fake angels, Otogi and Toki know about their true personalities, they can be honest with themselves, but that presents a new set of challenges as they still have to put up their perfect personas around their classmates. In this second volume, they test their acting skills during their school orientation trip where they are constantly surrounded by teachers, classmates, and a certain boy who also has his eyes on Otogi. Despite them relying on each other when they want to stop pretending, Otogi begins to wonder if Toki cares for her just as much as she cares about him.
Favorite Things:
The character development: I won’t spoil anything but let’s just say Otogi had some great development! I was very proud of my girl.
The ending: Again, I won’t spoil anything but it just left me wanting MORE! I cannot wait for volume three. ❤️
The other students: Although the other classmates have minor roles, I really enjoyed getting to meet some of them. Plus it led to some funny moments like when the subject of crushes came up during their little girl talk.
Love Triangle: Like many shoujo romances, this one also introduces another boy who has his eyes for Otogi. Here we are presented with the idea of the white knight with Toki and the dark knight Rai. The only problem is that Toki is just pretending to be a white knight in school, his real life persona is quite the opposite.
Rating: ★★★★ / 5
I really enjoyed this second volume so much! It was a fun read and parts of it had me kicking my feet. I was happy with the progression of the story and our two leads. I already pre-ordered volume 3, so I will report back on that volume after I read it!
